January 22, 2006 - Karmina Palace Mexico Has Valentine's Romantic Vacation Packages

Karmina PalaceThis Valentine's Day, Manzanillo's hottest resort plays Cupid with "romance revival" packages designed to inspire intimacy: gourmet dinners in secluded areas of the hotel and a special turn down service.

For just $80 US, couples dine under the stars on the hotel's suspension bridge with spectacular 360-degree views of the property and Manzanillo's distant port lights, while crashing waves provides the ultimate serenade. The intimate three-course Valentine's dinner for two includes heart-shaped salmon tartar, beef medallions and chocolate stuffed pear with pecans and cinnamon caramel. This deluxe "romance revival" package concludes with a special in-suite
turn down service: a flower-petal strewn bed, chocolates on the pillow and a single red rose for your sweetie.

The 324-all suite resort also has special "Valentine's romance tables" at two of their a la carte eateries, the Carioca international restaurant found under a soaring thatched roof overlooking the bay, and La Trattoria Italian terrace bistro set among the gardens.

Carioca's intimate Valentine's table sits away from the action in a secluded corner on a rocky point jutting out over the water, offering unparalleled privacy and spectacular views of the sparkling lights of the bay and twinkling stars overhead. Trattoria's table is tucked away on an outdoor terrace with the bay and neighboring marina as a backdrop.

The "Carioca romance" package is $120 US while the "Trattoria romance" package is $60 US per couple. Both include specially decorated table settings, the Valentine's gourmet menu and turn down service once the couple returns to their suite. And on this night of romance, there will be no interruptions as only one seating will be booked at each of these intimate settings.

For Romeos with their own action plans, Karmina lends a hand with the "Valentine's turn down service" for just $20 US extra. The hotel also offers discounts on bubbly, including Moet & Chandon for $75 US a bottle, Dom Pérignon for $250 US, and sparkling wines from $15 US.

January 29, 2006 - New Romantic Resort In Riviera Maya

El Cid Resorts will open its sixth hotel in February 2006, when part of a US$200-million complex halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen begins welcoming visitors.

The oceanfront Hotel Marina El Cid Cancun Riviera Maya, found about 18 km south of Cancun International Airport, will have a marina and boutiques and restaurants, and luxury condos.

The property will border Puerto Morelos National Reef Park, with resort beaches in smallish Puerto Morelos, with guests finding the white sand beaches and turquoise water the region is known for.

El Cid officials also promise "spectacular" snorkelling and diving.

The resort will have 350 suites in 11 four-story buildings. The architecture will mix colonial and modern styles, featuring palapa huts and brick-and-concrete structures surrounding a 7,000-sq.-m. free-form pool.

The first phase of development will have 200 suites and public areas. Among common spaces will be restaurants, bars, a business centre, tropical gardens, a hair/nails salon and a spa. The beachfront pool will feature waterfalls, swim-up bar, in-water lounge chairs, sun deck and children's area with slides. Nearby will be an oceanfront "mega
Jacuzzi."

The watersports facility will have snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, kayaking and sailing equipment.

Also on site will be a fitness centre with a steam room, sauna, massage rooms, and areas for aerobics, Pilates and spinning classes.

The resort lobby will have marble floors and minimalist décor. Flanking the lobby will be a jewelry store, sundries shop, bar and upscale Mediterranean restaurant.

Accommodations will range from junior suites to three-bedroom units. One- and two-bedroom suites are also available.

Guests will find oceanfront or pool views. Bathrooms will have marble walls, floors and countertops, and walk-in showers. All suites will have nightly turndown service and a choice of king-sized or double beds.

Two- and three-bedroom suites will come with such additional features as living and dining areas; a kitchen; whirlpool on the terrace; satellite TV in each bedroom; and plasma TV in the living room.

Standard rates for junior suites will range from US$187 to US$287, all-inclusive, per person, per night, based on double occupancy.

Three-bedroom suites will cost from US$297 to U$435 a night.

An additional US$40 p.p., per night, will provide an upgrade to the Platinum Club Level, assuring an oceanview suite with extra-comfort beds and linen. Platinum Level will also feature a welcome fruit basket with wine, pillow menu, turn-down service with hors d'oeuvres and petit fours, and butler service. Platinum Level guests will have complimentary access to the Platinum Room, which will provide beverages, snacks, Internet access, TV and more. As well, they will receive beachfront palapa huts, guaranteed reservations in the marina restaurant, a snorkelling trip to Puerto Morelos National Reef Park and other amenities.
