When is an All Inclusive Hotel Not the Right Option?

All Inclusive Hotel

An all inclusive hotel is certainly a popular choice for romantic vacations. Not worrying about your vacation budget can add to the relaxed atmosphere on your trip. But an all inclusive vacation is not right for everyone.

Here are some things to keep in mind when deciding on a stay at an all inclusive hotel:

Most all inclusive hotels are on a beach, and travelers fill their days with sunbathing, swimming, boating and other water activities. If you don’t enjoy a laidback day in a beach lounger or outdoor activities such as sailing and kayaking, then you might want to consider a different destination for your trip.

Also remember that a lot of the price of your all inclusive vacation is the plentiful food and drink available at most all inclusive hotels. But if you and your partner are not big on dining out, then you may feel that you are not getting your money’s worth from an all inclusive resort.

While an all inclusive resort can be convenient because all meals are provided, those meals are usually offered in a handful of restaurants or hotels. True foodies who enjoy trying a different restaurant for every meal or sampling authentic local eateries might not enjoy an all inclusive hotel. You may feel obligated to stay on-site for your meals since you are paying for them as part of the price of your romantic vacation.

That could be more of a factor if you are going to a larger city, such as Cancun, than when you are vacationing in a more secluded destination, such as Santo Domingo, where your choices outside of the all inclusive hotel would be quite limited.

Whether an all inclusive vacation is right for you is a very personal decision. It’s important to look at you and your partner’s wants and needs before deciding whether to stay at an all inclusive hotel or take a more traditional vacation.
